Job Overview
This role is ideal for a dynamic professional passionate about cultural preservation and digital innovation. The Cultural Heritage Digital Asset Manager will lead initiatives to digitize, catalog, and manage Mauritius’ cultural assets, ensuring their accessibility and long-term preservation. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the digitization of historical artifacts, manuscripts, and multimedia content
- Develop and maintain metadata standards for digital cultural assets
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design interactive digital exhibitions
- Implement digital preservation strategies using industry-standard tools
- Manage digital asset databases and ensure data integrity
- Conduct training sessions for staff and partners on digital archiving techniques
Required Skills
- Expertise in digital archiving software (e.g., Archivists’ Toolkit, CONTENTdm)
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of cultural heritage preservation principles
- Proficiency in metadata schema development (Dublin Core, METS)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Experience with cloud-based digital asset management systems
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Digital Archiving, Cultural Heritage Management, Library Science, or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in digital preservation are advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in cultural heritage digital asset management, preferably in a museum, archive, or heritage organization. Experience with international digital preservation standards is preferred.
Salary
300,000 – 450,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
