Job Overview
The Mining Safety Inspector will play a critical role in overseeing the daily safety operations at our Chamarel site. This position is responsible for conducting thorough inspections, identifying potential hazards, and ensuring that all mining activities comply with both local Mauritian regulations and international safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular, unannounced site inspections to ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Identify, document, and report potential geological and mechanical hazards to the site management team immediately.
- Lead accident investigations and perform root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence of safety incidents.
- Monitor the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure all staff are adequately trained in its use.
- Audit heavy machinery maintenance logs to ensure all equipment is safe for operational use.
- Develop and implement updated safety training modules for new and existing staff members.
- Collaborate with the environmental team to ensure mining activities do not negatively impact the local Chamarel ecosystem.
Required Skills
- Expert knowledge of occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations specific to the mining sector.
- Strong analytical skills for conducting risk assessments and technical audits.
- Exceptional attention to detail when inspecting complex mechanical and geological structures.

Education
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a closely related technical field. Experience
A minimum of 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in a safety inspection or supervisory role within the mining, heavy construction, or large-scale industrial sectors is required. Proven experience in managing safety protocols in remote or challenging geographical locations is a plus. Salary
