Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior Hospitality Sommelier to lead our wine program and elevate our beverage service to new heights. This role is critical to our mission of providing a bespoke dining experience for our elite clientele. The successful candidate will be responsible for curating an extensive wine list, managing cellar inventory, and providing expert guidance to guests regarding wine pairings and selections. This is a high-profile position that requires a deep understanding of viticulture, enology, and the art of service.
As a key member of the Food & Beverage team, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to design menus that harmonize perfectly with our seasonal culinary offerings. This job vacancy in Mauritius is designed for a professional who possesses not just technical knowledge, but the charisma and storytelling ability to engage guests in the history and nuances of fine wines.
Key Responsibilities
- Curate and manage a premium wine cellar, ensuring optimal storage conditions and inventory accuracy.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create sophisticated wine pairing menus for fine-dining outlets.
- Provide expert wine recommendations to guests, enhancing their overall dining experience through storytelling and technical expertise.
- Manage the procurement of high-quality wines and spirits, maintaining relationships with international distributors.
- Train and mentor junior floor staff on wine service standards, tasting notes, and cellar management.
- Monitor beverage costs and manage the wine department budget to ensure profitability.

- Advanced knowledge of global wine regions, grape varieties, and vintage characteristics.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to interact with high-net-worth individuals.
- Strong organizational skills for cellar management and inventory control.
- Deep understanding of food and wine pairing principles.

Education
A formal certification from a recognized body such as the Court of Master Sommeliers (CMS) or WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) is highly preferred. A degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is an advantage.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a fine-dining or luxury resort setting is required. Proven experience in cellar management and staff training is essential for this senior-level position.
Salary
The offered salary for this position ranges from 45,000 SSP to 65,000 SSP, depending on experience and qualifications.
