Job Overview

The Lead Solar Power Systems Engineer will spearhead the design, implementation, and optimization of large‑scale solar power projects throughout Mauritius. Reporting to the Head of Renewable Energy, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, external consultants, and government agencies to ensure projects meet technical, regulatory, and performance standards. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of solar power system projects, from feasibility studies to commissioning and handover.
• Develop detailed electrical designs, single‑line diagrams, and layout plans adhering to international standards.
• Coordinate with procurement, construction, and operations teams to ensure timely delivery of equipment and services.
• Perform performance modeling, energy yield analysis, and financial feasibility assessments.
• Ensure compliance with Mauritian regulations, grid codes, and environmental impact requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance throughout project phases.
• Manage relationships with local utilities, government bodies, and community stakeholders.
• Implement monitoring and control systems to optimize plant performance and reliability.

Required Skills

• Expertise in PV system design software such as PVSyst, Helioscope, or SAM.
• Strong knowledge of IEC, NEC, and local grid interconnection standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar electrical drafting tools.
• Excellent project management and leadership abilities.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills.
• Effective communication skills in English and French.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in solar design (e.g., NABCEP) or a Master’s degree are highly desirable and will be considered an asset.

Experience

Candidates must have at least eight years of progressive experience in solar power system engineering, with a proven track record of delivering utility‑scale projects of 10 MW or greater. Experience in the African market or similar emerging economies is advantageous.
