Job Overview
The Senior Battery Systems Engineer will lead the design, integration, and optimization of large‑scale battery storage projects for utility‑scale and commercial applications. Reporting to the Head of Energy Storage, you will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including project management, grid engineering, and procurement, to deliver reliable, cost‑effective storage solutions that meet performance specifications and regulatory standards. This role involves overseeing the entire project lifecycle—from concept feasibility studies to commissioning and post‑installation performance monitoring. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design of battery storage systems, including cell selection, pack configuration, thermal management, and control architecture.
- Develop detailed engineering specifications, schematics, and integration plans aligned with grid codes and client requirements.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to evaluate component performance, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of equipment.
- Perform system simulations and modeling to predict performance, efficiency, and lifecycle cost.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Implement monitoring and diagnostic tools for real‑time performance analysis and predictive maintenance.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies and local authorities to secure permits and certifications.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and presentation materials for stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers and facilitate knowledge transfer across multidisciplinary teams.
- Stay abreast of emerging battery technologies, market trends, and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Expertise in lithium‑ion battery chemistry, system architecture, and safety protocols.
- Proficiency with simulation software such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
- Strong understanding of power electronics, inverter technology, and grid integration.
- Project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk mitigation.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven approach.

Education
