Job Overview
The Aviation Safety Analyst will be responsible for monitoring, analysing and reporting safety data across all flight operations, maintenance activities and ground handling processes. Working closely with the Safety Management System (SMS) team, the analyst will identify trends, conduct risk assessments and recommend corrective actions to ensure compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and the Mauritian Civil Aviation Authority (MCAA) regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Collect, validate and analyse safety reports, incident data and audit findings from flight operations, maintenance and ground services.
- Develop and maintain safety performance indicators (SPIs) and dashboards for senior management review.
- Conduct root‑cause analyses of safety events and recommend actionable mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with pilots, engineers, ground staff and regulatory bodies to ensure timely implementation of safety recommendations.
- Prepare and present safety performance reports, trend analyses and compliance updates to the Safety Committee.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of the airline’s Safety Management System (SMS) documentation.
- Participate in internal and external safety audits, ensuring all findings are addressed within stipulated timelines.
- Monitor regulatory changes and advise the organization on necessary procedural adjustments.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in statistical tools and safety data software.
- In‑depth knowledge of ICAO Annex 19, MCAA regulations and industry best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Familiarity with aviation safety management systems and risk assessment methodologies.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Safety, Aeronautical Engineering, Aviation Management or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) credentials are advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of three to five years of relevant experience in aviation safety analysis, safety auditing, or regulatory compliance within an airline, airport authority or aviation consultancy. Experience with safety data analytics platforms and a proven track record of implementing safety improvements are essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 600,000 to SSP 850,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, qualifications and performance. The package includes statutory benefits, health insurance, and a performance‑based bonus structure.
