Job Overview
We are seeking a visionary Blockchain Solutions Architect to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade distributed ledger solutions for institutional clients across Africa and Asia-Pacific. This senior role sits at the intersection of technology, business strategy, and financial innovation, requiring deep technical expertise in blockchain protocols, smart contract development, and system integration. Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end blockchain architecture solutions for institutional clients, including network topology, consensus mechanisms, and data privacy layers.
- Lead technical workshops and discovery sessions with clients and internal stakeholders to translate business requirements into functional blockchain specifications.
- Develop and review smart contract code (primarily Solidity, Go) and ensure security best practices through formal verification and audit processes.
- Architect integration pathways between existing legacy banking systems and new blockchain networks, ensuring data consistency and operational resilience.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, API specifications, and deployment guides.
- Provide expert guidance on regulatory compliance, data sovereignty, and cybersecurity considerations for blockchain implementations in multiple jurisdictions.
- Mentor and coach a team of blockchain developers and engineers, fostering technical excellence and innovation.
- Evaluate emerging blockchain protocols, interoperability solutions, and layer-2 scaling technologies to inform strategic technology roadmaps.
- Collaborate with product management, legal, and compliance teams to ensure solutions meet market needs and regulatory standards.
Required Skills
- Expert-level knowledge of blockchain fundamentals: consensus algorithms (PoW, PoS, BFT), cryptographic primitives, and peer-to-peer networking.
- Proven experience architecting solutions on enterprise blockchain platforms (e.g., Hyperledger Fabric, Corda, Ethereum Enterprise, Quorum).
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages: Go, Java, Solidity, Python, or Rust.
- Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) for deploying blockchain nodes.
- Strong knowledge of financial market infrastructure, including payments, securities settlement, and trade finance.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical executives.
- Proven track record in designing systems with a focus on security, scalability, and high availability.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
Education
A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field is required. Additional certifications such as Certified Blockchain Solution Architect (CBSA), AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, or TOGAF are highly desirable. Continuous learning in cryptography, distributed systems, and financial technology is essential for this role.
Experience
Minimum of 7 years of professional experience, with at least 4 years specifically focused on blockchain architecture, distributed systems design, or enterprise solution architecture within financial services or technology consulting. Must have a demonstrable portfolio of successfully deployed blockchain projects, preferably involving cross-border payments, digital assets, or supply chain finance. Experience working in a global, multi-disciplinary team environment is crucial.
