Job Overview

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and monitoring EHS policies, ensuring compliance with Mauritian regulations, and fostering a safety‑first culture across all operational areas. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and communicate EHS policies and procedures in line with local legislation and BASF global standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Lead incident reporting, root‑cause analysis, and follow‑up actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training sessions, including fire drills, PPE usage, and emergency response.
  • Monitor environmental performance metrics such as emissions, waste disposal, and resource consumption.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports to the Ministry of Environment, Sustainable Development and Climate Change.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to evaluate suppliers for compliance with EHS criteria.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement through employee engagement and communication campaigns.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Mauritian occupational health and safety legislation and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a data‑driven mindset.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex safety information clearly.
  • Proficiency in EHS management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of cross‑functional teams.

Education
