Job Overview
This role involves pioneering research in nanomaterial synthesis and characterization to develop next-generation materials for commercial applications. The position requires collaboration with global R&D teams and local academic institutions to advance nanotechnology solutions aligned with Mauritius’ sustainable development goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments for nanomaterial synthesis (e.g., carbon nanotubes, quantum dots)
- Conduct advanced material characterization using SEM, TEM, and XRD techniques
- Develop prototypes for industrial applications in energy storage and biomedical devices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on commercialization strategies
- Prepare technical reports and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals
Required Skills
- Expertise in nanofabrication techniques (CVD, sol-gel processes)
- Proficiency in material analysis software (OriginPro, MATLAB)
- Experience with nanoscale coating technologies
- Strong understanding of safety protocols for nanomaterial handling
- Excellent project management and documentation skills
Education
Master’s or PhD in Nanotechnology, Materials Science, or related field with specialization in advanced materials research.
Experience
3-5 years in nanotechnology R&D, preferably in industrial applications. Experience with nanomaterial commercialization projects is advantageous.
Salary
450,000 – 600,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
