Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Petroleum Geologist to join our exploration team in Rose Hill. This role is critical to our mission of identifying and evaluating new hydrocarbon reservoirs to ensure long-term energy supply. The successful candidate will lead complex geological modeling, interpret seismic data, and provide strategic insights that guide our drilling programs. This position requires a deep understanding of sedimentary basins and advanced geophysical techniques. As we navigate the energy transition, this role will also contribute to evaluating the geological potential of carbon capture and storage (CCS) sites, ensuring our operations remain at the forefront of environmental responsibility and technical innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data to identify potential drilling targets.
- Develop and refine complex geological models using industry-standard software.
- Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to optimize well placement and production strategies.
- Supervise junior geologists and provide technical mentorship within the exploration department.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments for exploration projects to minimize drilling uncertainty.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management regarding exploration prospects.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Petrel or similar geological modeling software.
- Expertise in seismic interpretation and structural geology.

Education
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Geology, Petroleum Geoscience, or a closely related Earth Science discipline is mandatory. A PhD is highly preferred for this senior-level position.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in petroleum exploration, specifically within offshore or complex onshore environments. Proven track record of successful well placement and reservoir characterization is essential.
Salary
The annual gross salary for this position ranges from SSP 850,000 to SSP 1,200,000, depending on experience and technical expertise. This is a highly competitive package within the Mauritius energy sector.
