This position plays a pivotal role in Siemens’ strategy to expand its robotics portfolio in emerging markets, making it an ideal platform for professionals seeking to influence high‑impact projects and drive technological innovation. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, contributing to intellectual property creation, and representing Siemens at industry conferences and trade shows, thereby enhancing the company’s brand as a leader in industrial automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to assess automation needs, perform feasibility studies, and develop customized solution proposals.
  • Oversee the integration of hardware, PLC programming, vision systems, and AI‑driven control algorithms to achieve optimal performance.
  • Conduct system validation, performance testing, and commissioning on‑site, ensuring compliance with safety standards and client specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Develop detailed documentation, including system architecture, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals.
  • Stay abreast of emerging robotics technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes to continuously improve solution offerings.
  • Represent Siemens at local and regional trade fairs, workshops, and academic collaborations to promote brand visibility and generate new business leads.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in robot programming languages (e.g., RAPID, KRL, URScript) and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, OPC UA).
  • Strong background in mechanical design, CAD/CAM tools (SolidWorks, CATIA) and simulation software (RoboDK, MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Experience with PLCs, HMI development, and integration of vision systems.
  • Solid understanding of safety standards such as ISO 10218, IEC 61508, and local Mauritian regulations.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities, analytical mindset, and capacity to work under tight project timelines.
  • Effective communication skills in English; French is an advantage for client interactions.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex automation projects from concept to commissioning.

Education

A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field is required. Professional certifications such as Siemens Certified Automation Engineer, FANUC Robotics Certification, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of eight years of hands‑on experience in robotics and automation engineering, preferably within the manufacturing sector. Demonstrated experience managing large‑scale projects, leading multidisciplinary teams, and interfacing directly with clients is essential.
