Job Overview

The Senior Urban Planning Manager will lead the planning division in developing comprehensive urban plans, zoning regulations, and land‑use strategies that align with national development goals. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee master‑plan initiatives, zoning frameworks, and land‑use policies for urban development projects.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including architects, civil engineers, environmental consultants, and legal advisors to ensure integrated planning solutions.
• Conduct feasibility studies, demographic analyses, and market assessments to inform strategic planning decisions.
• Engage with local authorities, community groups, and private developers to gather input, address concerns, and secure project approvals.
• Prepare detailed reports, presentation decks, and technical documentation for senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Monitor implementation of planning guidelines throughout the construction phase to ensure compliance and quality standards.
• Lead risk assessments related to land acquisition, environmental impact, and regulatory changes.
• Mentor junior planners and provide training on best practices, GIS tools, and emerging urban planning trends.

Required Skills

• Advanced knowledge of urban planning principles, zoning codes, and land‑use regulations in Mauritius.
• Proficiency with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and planning tools (AutoCAD, SketchUp).
• Strong analytical abilities to interpret demographic, economic, and environmental data.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder engagement.

Education
