Job Overview

The Digital Payments Product Owner will spearhead the design, development and launch of cutting‑edge payment solutions that meet the evolving needs of consumers and businesses. Reporting to the Head of Digital Innovation, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver seamless, secure and scalable payment experiences. Key Responsibilities

• Define product vision, roadmap and backlog for digital payment services, aligning with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct market research, competitor analysis and customer interviews to identify opportunities and prioritize features.
• Work closely with UX/UI designers, engineers, compliance and risk teams to translate requirements into functional specifications.
• Lead agile ceremonies, manage sprint planning and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality releases.
• Monitor product performance using KPIs, analytics and user feedback, iterating continuously to improve adoption and satisfaction.
• Coordinate go‑to‑market strategies, including marketing, training and support enablement.
• Ensure compliance with local and international payment standards such as PCI‑DSS, ISO 20022 and AML regulations.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of digital payments ecosystems, APIs, tokenisation and mobile wallets.
• Proven product ownership experience in fintech or banking environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and make evidence‑based decisions.
• Agile methodology expertise, preferably Scrum certification.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing payments in Mauritius and the wider African market.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline is required. Advanced qualifications such as an MBA or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner, PMP) are advantageous.

Experience

Applicants must have 5‑7 years of progressive experience in product management, preferably within digital payments, fintech startups or banking innovation labs. Demonstrated success in launching end‑to‑end payment products and managing cross‑functional teams is essential.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 800,000 to 1,200,000 annually, commensurate with experience and expertise. Performance‑based bonuses and long‑term incentive schemes are also part of the total rewards.
