Job Overview
The Senior Mining Geology Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in transforming raw geological datasets into strategic intelligence that supports exploration, mine planning, and sustainability initiatives. Reporting to the Head of Geoscience, the incumbent will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, environmental specialists, and senior management, to deliver data-driven solutions that enhance ore body modeling, resource estimation, and operational decision‑making. Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and integrate geological, geophysical, and geochemical data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and consistency.
- Develop and maintain advanced statistical models and machine‑learning algorithms to predict mineralization patterns and optimize exploration targets.
- Collaborate with exploration teams to design data‑driven drilling programs and assess their outcomes.
- Produce detailed 3D geological models using software such as Leapfrog, Surpac, or Vulcan, and translate model outputs into actionable recommendations.
- Generate comprehensive reports and visual dashboards for senior leadership, highlighting key insights, risk assessments, and performance metrics.
- Support the implementation of digital mining initiatives, including IoT sensor data integration and real‑time monitoring of geotechnical parameters.
- Mentor junior analysts and provide training on best practices in data handling, statistical analysis, and visualization.
- Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and international standards for data security and environmental reporting.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, R, SQL, and GIS platforms.
- Strong understanding of geological concepts, mineral resource estimation, and mining engineering principles.
- Experience with 3D modeling software (Leapfrog, Surpac, Vulcan) and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Ability to translate complex data sets into clear, concise business insights for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Effective communication and presentation abilities, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) frameworks and sustainable mining practices.
Education
A Master’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Data Analyst (CDA) or certifications in mining software are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in geological data analysis, resource modeling, or related roles within the mining industry. Demonstrated experience leading data‑driven projects and delivering measurable business outcomes is essential.
Salary
The competitive salary range for this role is SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 1,500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based bonuses and long‑term incentive plans are available.
