Job Overview
The Tidal Energy Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of Shell’s pioneering tidal power projects along the Mauritian coastline. This role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and international best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive project plans for tidal energy installations, including scope, schedule, cost, and risk management.
- Lead cross‑functional teams comprising engineers, environmental scientists, procurement specialists, and local contractors.
- Secure necessary permits and ensure compliance with Mauritian maritime and environmental regulations.
- Manage vendor selection, contract negotiations, and supply chain logistics for turbine components and marine infrastructure.
- Monitor project performance, prepare progress reports, and present updates to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Implement robust health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols throughout all project phases.
- Facilitate community engagement initiatives to promote local acceptance and benefit sharing.
- Oversee commissioning, testing, and handover processes, ensuring operational readiness and performance optimization.
Required Skills
- Strong project management expertise with proven delivery of large‑scale renewable energy projects.
- In‑depth knowledge of marine engineering, tidal turbine technology, and offshore construction.
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project) and data analysis tools.
- Ability to interpret and apply environmental impact assessments and regulatory frameworks.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, in English; French is an advantage.
- Leadership qualities with a focus on safety culture and team development.
Education
A Master’s degree in Renewable Energy, Marine Engineering, Oceanography, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, Prince2, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Experience
Applicants must have 5‑7 years of experience managing renewable energy projects, preferably with exposure to marine or offshore environments. Experience in the African or Indian Ocean region is a plus.
Salary
