Job Overview

The Data Center Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day management of Microsoft’s flagship data center in Port Louis. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the data center, ensuring 99.99% uptime and adherence to Service Level Agreements.
  • Manage a team of technicians, engineers, and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance, capacity planning, and hardware upgrades to meet evolving business needs.
  • Implement and monitor security protocols, including physical access controls, surveillance, and incident response procedures.
  • Collaborate with Microsoft Azure engineering teams to integrate new services and optimize resource utilization.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive operational documentation, runbooks, and compliance reports.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis for incidents, driving corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and Microsoft’s internal policies.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level negotiations.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives, focusing on energy efficiency and carbon reduction within the data center.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, networking, and virtualization technologies.
  • Proficiency with monitoring tools such as System Center Operations Manager, Azure Monitor, or equivalent.
  • Excellent leadership and people‑management abilities.
  • Solid understanding of security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR) and physical security best practices.
  • Effective project management and capacity planning skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English; French is an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, ITIL Foundation, or Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP) are highly desirable.

Experience
