Job Overview
The Senior Quality Assurance Manager will lead the QA function at the Mahébourg manufacturing plant, ensuring that all products meet Nestlé’s rigorous safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Regional QA Director, you will oversee a multidisciplinary team, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate closely with production, R&D, and supply chain stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality management systems (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001, HACCP, and local regulatory requirements.
- Lead internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are identified, tracked, and closed effectively.
- Supervise a team of QA specialists, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with production managers to embed quality controls into manufacturing processes, reducing defect rates and waste.
- Analyze quality data, generate trend reports, and drive root‑cause investigations to implement preventive measures.
- Manage supplier qualification and ongoing performance monitoring to guarantee raw material integrity.
- Oversee product release procedures, ensuring all releases meet safety and quality criteria before market distribution.
- Coordinate with regulatory affairs to stay abreast of changes in food safety legislation and ensure timely compliance.
- Champion continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma methodologies to enhance efficiency and product quality.
- Represent Nestlé in industry forums, fostering relationships with external quality bodies and customers.
Required Skills
- Deep knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, ISO 22000, GFSI) and regulatory frameworks in Mauritius and international markets.
- Proven leadership abilities with experience managing cross‑functional teams.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical tools (Minitab, SPC) and data‑driven decision making.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing at all organizational levels.
- Project management expertise, preferably with PMP or Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
- Fluency in English and French; knowledge of Creole is an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of eight years of progressive experience in quality assurance within the food and beverage manufacturing sector, with at least three years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
